At St. Brigids, the heart of many of our deepest connections are good food and great coffee. Why would our ministry in the wider community look any different?

Introducing The Saint Bees Tea.

The Saint Bees Tea is our way of helping to connect people from the entire community over coffee, tea, food and conversation in a casual setting. And all this in a way that embraces diversity, and offers warmth, hospitality, welcome and relationship across our differences.

The Tea can be a real lifeline of friendship for our older guests who have little or no contact with family or friends. They bring people of all ages together, develop fulfilling friendships and support networks, and give everyone involved something to look forward to each month.

Volunteering. Become a Host.

Hosts provide a warm welcome and a simple afternoon coffee and tea service lasting about 2 hours for six to eight older guests and three or four drivers. Often hosts involve family and friends and ideally two or three generations join in.

The only essentials are that you are able to show up, and are willing to engage in meaningful conversation with our older guests. You will receive any necessary training in advance of your first party. Some volunteers will also be asked to bring something sweet to enjoy, preferably home baked.

Your commitment.

Our hosts commit to one or two tea parties a year – possibly more if they want. Douglas, our volunteer coordinator, will call to check dates and other arrangements and let you know the details.
